Nice pick-up today on ebay. A 1971-P Ike in PCGS MS64 for $19 bucks.

I normally prefer NGC but this is a nice key date addition to my Ike collection for cheap. Don’t you agree?

I started collecting fairly recently, 2008 to be exact. The state quarters got me started with the hobby. I then moved on to collecting Kennedy halves because of my easy access to them. (I was working at a casino at the time). I then started collecting all circulating pennies, nickels, dimes, and dollar coins from both Philadelphia and Denver mints. I had them all in a nice, “fancy” Dansco album.

I quickly learned how overwhelming collecting coins can be. As I learned and grew numismatically, I realized that I needed focus and direction in my collecting strategy.

Today I focuses my efforts on certified of a few series. Mainly the 1932 to 64 Washington quarters, Kennedys from 64 to 70, Silver Kennedy proofs from 92 to date, the Eisenhower series, and Philippine coins under US sovereignty. If I see a good deal on an interesting modern coin, then I’d grab it Otherwise, I try to stay within my series.

I’m going to create a page for each of this series to track, and share my progress with those interested, starting with the Kennedys from 1964 to 70.
